Our pit bike spring was rather easy to remove as the shock broke in two over a jump and the spring shot out the back like a connon ball. Anyways, we use a woodworking c-clamp that has a thin enough jaw to fit in the coil of the spring to compress it enough to get the bottom washer off. Be careful! (see step#2) A lot of shocks you can back the pre load off enough to do it by hand, if you are a burly man. Good luck!

KLX110 Springs

Im tying to chane the shock spring on my 110 but I cant figure out how to get the spring off.
